NRP Instructor Candidate Mentorship Policy
Overview
BOPN Medical Education is committed to maintaining the highest standards of education and training. As such, we welcome individuals interested in becoming Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) instructors for BOPN Medical Education. We currently do not mentor instructor candidates for outside organizations unless an arrangement has been made with that organization.
Eligibility and Application
Individuals wishing to join our courses as Instructor Candidates (ICs) must:
Hold current NRP 8th Edition Advanced Provider status.
Possess professional qualifications as defined by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
Maintain clinical responsibility in maternal-child healthcare or neonatal resuscitation environments.
In addition to the standards of AAP, we require that our instructors currently work in roles that involve the full scope of NRP Advanced Providers such as advanced airway management and independent management of all steps of neonatal resuscitation.
Mentorship Process
Instructor Candidates who wish to participate in our classes must:
Contact Our Organization:
Instructor Candidates must reach out to us before registering for a course. This initial contact allows us to review qualifications, discuss mentorship expectations, and ensure alignment with our organization's goals.
Interview and Approval:
Candidates will participate in a brief conversation with one of our current NRP instructors or administrators to review their professional background, motivation, and compatibility with our teaching style and culture.
Participation as Instructor Candidates:
Approved candidates will participate in instructor-led events under direct mentorship. Mentorship includes guidance, observation, and feedback sessions.
Feedback and Evaluation:
Upon completion of the mentorship period, Instructor Candidates will receive structured feedback regarding their performance and readiness to instruct independently.
